Just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be.—Matt. 24:37.

By means of the Flood, Jehovah took action against a world “full of violence.” (Gen. 6:13) That Noah and his family refrained from taking part in such violence and instead peacefully went about the work of building an ark was obvious to all who saw them. Here we see a parallel to our day. Sincere people can now “see the distinction between a righteous one and a wicked one, between one serving God and one who has not served him.” (Mal. 3:18) The honesty, kindness, peacefulness, and diligence displayed by Jehovah’s Witnesses are admired by unprejudiced onlookers, and these qualities distinguish God’s people from the world in general. The Witnesses reject violence in all its forms and let themselves be motivated by Jehovah’s spirit. That is why they are blessed with peace and why they pursue a righteous course.—Isa. 60:17. w 5/15/06 4, 5

[Christ cleansed] for himself a people peculiarly his own, zealous for fine works.—Titus 2:14.

Who today make up “the righteous nation that is keeping faithful conduct,” acting as faithful Witnesses for Jehovah, and proclaiming his Kingdom as the only hope for humanity? (Isa. 26:2-4) Look at the churches of Christendom and other religions, and compare their conduct with what the Bible requires of God’s true servants. Millions of people throughout the world, including many young ones, have become convinced that the anointed remnant of Jehovah’s Witnesses constitute that “righteous nation.” They say to these spiritual Israelites: “We will go with you people, for we have heard that God is with you people.” (Zech. 8:23) We truly hope and pray that you young ones will decide to take your place among God’s people and thus “choose life”—life everlasting in Jehovah’s new world.—Deut. 30:15-20; 2 Pet. 3:11-13. w 7/1/06 18, 19a

Rejoice and leap for joy, since your reward is great in the heavens; for in that way they persecuted the prophets prior to you.—Matt. 5:12.

As Jehovah’s Witnesses, we have faced vicious persecution in many parts of the earth. We are aware that Jehovah long ago foretold that hatred, or enmity, would develop between those who serve God and those who serve Satan the Devil. (Gen. 3:15) We also know that by maintaining integrity under trial, we testify to the rightfulness of Jehovah’s universal sovereignty. Knowing this can make us strong even under the most extreme circumstances. No persecution will ever permanently silence us if we remain determined to reflect the glory of God. Do you resist the allure of the world and prove faithful despite ridicule and opposition? Your endurance gives evidence that Jehovah’s powerful holy spirit is upon you, empowering you to reflect his glory.

Happy is the one you choose and cause to approach, that he may reside in your courtyards.—Ps. 65:4.

Soon this wicked system of things will end, and the Messianic Kingdom will take full control of mankind’s affairs. Until then, how important it is that each of us maintain a positive spirit! This will help us to recognize the virtues of our fellow believers, instead of focusing on their faults. Rather than being emotionally drained by murmuring, we will thus be encouraged and built up spiritually. A positive spirit will also enable us to bear in mind the many blessings we enjoy because of being associated with the earthly part of Jehovah’s organization. This is the only organization in the world that is loyal to the Sovereign of the universe. How do you feel about that reality and the privilege of engaging in the worship of the only true God, Jehovah? May your attitude be like that of David, as expressed in today’s text. w 7/15/06 19, 20a

You cannot be partaking of “the table of Jehovah” and the table of demons.—1 Cor. 10:21.

True Christians keep clear of false worship, rejecting false religious teachings. This means that we avoid exposure to religious programs on radio and television as well as religious literature that promotes lies about God and his Word. (Ps. 119:37) We also wisely refrain from sharing in social functions and recreational activities sponsored by any organization associated with false religion. Additionally, we do not support false worship in any way. What if a person who wishes to become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses is currently a registered member of a false religion? In most cases, a letter of resignation serves as evidence that a person no longer wants to be viewed as a member of a false religion. The actions of a prospective Witness should make it clear that he has ended that religious affiliation. w 3/15/06 11, 12a

You must keep and do them, because this is wisdom on your part and understanding on your part before the eyes of the peoples who will hear of all these regulations.—Deut. 4:6.

We choose to serve Jehovah because we love him. Heeding the warning examples from Israel’s day, we resist all temptations to commit immorality and we shun lifestyles that may cause us to sink into the world’s morass of materialism. (1 Cor. 10:11; 1 Tim. 6:6-10) We cleave to Jehovah and keep his regulations. (Josh. 23:8; Ps. 119:5, 8) Before the Israelites entered the Promised Land, Moses exhorted them: “See, I have taught you regulations and judicial decisions, just as Jehovah my God has commanded me, for you to do that way in the midst of the land to which you are going to take possession of it.” (Deut. 4:5) Now is the time to demonstrate our love for Jehovah by putting Jehovah’s will first in our life. We will surely be blessed if we choose to do so.—Matt. 6:33. w 6/1/06 9a

Let us work what is good toward all, but especially toward those related to us in the faith.—Gal. 6:10.

We certainly need to be concerned that fellow Christians receive spiritual help whenever they face tests of their faith. But might they also need practical help, for example, in getting to the Kingdom Hall or in doing their grocery shopping? Are there any elderly, sick, or housebound ones in your congregation who would appreciate an encouraging visit or a helping hand? If we make an effort to be sensitive to such needs, then Jehovah might be able to use us to answer the prayers of a needy one. Another way in which Christians show an unselfish attitude is by using their time and energy to speak about God’s purposes. (Matt. 28:19, 20) Anyone who has had the joy of helping another person to arrive at the point of dedicating his life to Jehovah knows the truth of Jesus’ words: “There is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.”—Acts 20:35. w 6/15/06 14, 15

He makes his sun rise upon wicked people and good and makes it rain upon righteous people and unrighteous.—Matt. 5:45.

Concerning his heavenly Father, Jesus Christ said the above. If Jehovah God bestows blessings upon even the unrighteous and the wicked, how much more so upon those who walk in the way of integrity! Experiencing spiritual prosperity always involves drawing close to God. When we develop an intimate relationship with him, we ‘safely treasure up for ourselves a fine foundation for the future, in order that we may get a firm hold on the real life’—everlasting life. (1 Tim. 6:12, 17-19) In the future new world of God’s making, our spiritual riches will be coupled with physical blessings. The real life will then be the lot of all those who “keep listening to the voice of Jehovah.” (Deut. 28:2) With strengthened determination, let us joyfully continue walking in integrity. w 5/15/06 17, 19a

The time has not come.—Hag. 1:2.

When the restored Jews began the temple-building work, laying the foundation in 536 B.C.E., they were not saying that “the time has not come.” But they soon allowed opposition from neighbors and interference from the government to affect them. The Jews began putting more emphasis on their own houses and their own comforts. Jehovah asked: “Is it the time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses, while this house is waste?” (Hag. 1:4) Yes, the priorities of the Jews had shifted. Instead of keeping in first place Jehovah’s purpose to have the temple rebuilt, God’s people became focused on themselves and their dwellings. Jehovah’s word recorded at Haggai 1:5 encouraged the Jews to ‘set their heart upon their ways.’ Jehovah was telling them to stop and meditate on what they were doing and to consider how they were being affected by not keeping the temple-building work in first place in their lives. w 4/15/06 10, 11

Through love slave for one another.—Gal. 5:13.

Jehovah manifests his love for the flock as a whole when he provides it with an abundance of spiritual food. (Isa. 65:13, 14; Matt. 24:45-47) Yet, he does more than just feed the flock. He feels a personal attachment to each individual sheep. (1 Pet. 5:6, 7) Spiritual shepherds imitate Jehovah and Jesus. They display love for God’s flock as a whole by “applying [themselves] to teaching” the congregation. Their Bible-based talks help feed and protect the flock, and their hard work in this regard is visible to all. (1 Tim. 4:13, 16) Less visible is the time they spend maintaining records, processing correspondence, making schedules, and caring for numerous other details in order to ensure that congregation meetings and other activities take place “decently and by arrangement.” (1 Cor. 14:40) Much of this work is done out of public view and may receive little recognition. It is truly a labor of love. w 5/1/06 4, 5

Throw your burden upon Jehovah himself, and he himself will sustain you. Never will he allow the righteous one to totter.—Ps. 55:22.

You can take practical steps to cope with despondency. For instance, follow a healthy program of Christian activity. Meditate on God’s Word, especially when discouragement seems overwhelming. The psalmist sang: “When I said: ‘My foot will certainly move unsteadily,’ your own loving-kindness, O Jehovah, kept sustaining me. When my disquieting thoughts became many inside of me, your own consolations began to fondle my soul.” (Ps. 94:18, 19) Regular Bible reading will help to fill your mind with consoling words and sustaining thoughts. Prayer too is vital. Even if you cannot fully express the depth of your feelings in words, Jehovah knows what you are trying to say. (Rom. 8:26, 27) The psalmist gave the assurance found in our text for today. w 7/15/06 16, 17b

In case you should sacrifice a communion sacrifice to Jehovah, you should sacrifice it to gain approval for yourselves.—Lev. 19:5.

Jehovah provided his people with opportunities to live up to the national dedication. For instance, his Law provided for a system of sacrifices, or offerings, some of which were compulsory, while others were voluntary. (Heb. 8:3) Such sacrifices included burnt offerings, grain offerings, and communion offerings that were voluntary—gifts presented to Jehovah to gain his favor and express thanksgiving. (Lev. 7:11-13) Those voluntary sacrifices pleased Jehovah. It was said of the burnt offering and of the grain offering that they were “a restful odor to Jehovah.” (Lev. 1:9; 2:2) While all Israelites were dedicated to Jehovah by reason of birth, those who made their dedication meaningful by making voluntary offerings ‘gained approval for themselves’ and were richly blessed.—Mal. 3:10. w 7/1/06 8, 9

2 December 2007:
May you pardon error; and accept what is good, and we will offer in return the young bulls of our lips.—Hos. 14:2.

The expression “the young bulls of our lips” refers to sacrifices of sincere praise. Paul alluded to this prophecy when he urged Christians to “offer to God a sacrifice of praise, that is, the fruit of lips which make public declaration to his name.” (Heb. 13:15) Israelites who abandoned their wayward course and turned back to God offered him ‘the young bulls of their lips.’ They thus experienced spiritual restoration, even as God had promised. (Hos. 14:4-7) Repentant Israelites would again enjoy God’s love. Jehovah would become like refreshing dew to them in that he would bless them abundantly. His restored people would have dignity “like that of the olive tree,” and they would walk in God’s ways. What a privilege it is to walk with God and offer such sacrifices today! w 11/15/05 19-22b

God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son.—John 3:16.

When you are suffering with no relief in sight, you may wonder: ‘Does God really love me? Does he notice what I am going through?’ Consider what happened to the apostle Paul. “There was given me a thorn in the flesh,” he wrote, adding: “I three times entreated the Lord that it might depart from me.” Jehovah indicated to Paul that he would not intervene by means of a miraculous solution. Instead, Paul would have to rely on God’s power to help him cope with his “thorn in the flesh.” (2 Cor. 12:7-9) Like Paul, you may be experiencing a certain ongoing trial. Perhaps you wonder, ‘Does the fact that Jehovah appears not to have done anything about my trial mean that he is unaware of my situation or that he does not care about me?’ The answer is a resounding no! Jehovah is deeply concerned about each of his faithful servants. w 8/1/05 3, 4

He was foreknown before the founding of the world, but he was made manifest at the end of the times for the sake of you.—1 Pet. 1:20.

Did Jehovah predetermine from the beginning that Adam and Eve would sin and that the ransom sacrifice provided by means of Jesus Christ would be needed? No. The word “founding” is translated from a Greek term that literally means “throwing down of seed.” Had there been a “throwing down of seed,” or a conceiving of human offspring, before Adam and Eve sinned? No. It was after their act of disobedience that Adam and Eve brought forth children. (Gen. 4:1) So following the rebellion but before the conception of offspring by Adam and Eve, Jehovah foreordained the appearance of the “seed.” (Gen. 3:15) Jesus’ death and resurrection provided the loving arrangement of the ransom, whereby inherited sin and all of Satan’s efforts are to be brought to nothing.—Matt. 20:28; Heb. 2:14; 1 John 3:8. w 6/1/06 10

None of you should go out of the entrance of his house until morning.—Ex. 12:22.

In the tenth plague upon Egypt in Moses’ day, the firstborn of the Egyptians were killed, but those of the Israelites were spared. Why? Jehovah had given the Israelites instructions for survival, which included the words in today’s text. (Ex. 12:7) Which firstborn among the Israelites would have dared to ignore such God-given instructions by going outside a house marked with the blood splashed on the two doorposts and the upper part of the doorway? We therefore have reason to think carefully about our personal situation. Are we actually inside Jehovah’s arrangement of spiritual protection? When the great tribulation strikes, tears of joy and thankfulness will stream down the faces of those who have sought such protection. For others, there will be only tears of sorrow and regret. w 5/15/06 11, 12

To you it is granted to understand the sacred secrets of the kingdom of the heavens.—Matt. 13:11.

During one of his preaching tours of Galilee, Jesus indicated that the sacred secret was closely related to his Messianic Kingdom government. One aspect of that secret involved Jehovah’s selecting a “little flock” of 144,000 humans to be associated with his Son as part of the seed, to reign with him in heaven. (Luke 12:32; Rev. 14:1, 4) Since humans were created to live on earth, “a new creation” by Jehovah was required in order for some humans to go to heaven. (2 Cor. 5:17) Speaking as one of those with the heavenly hope, the apostle Peter wrote: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, for according to his great mercy he gave us a new birth to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance. It is reserved in the heavens for you.”—1 Pet. 1:3, 4. w 2/15/06 12, 13

The one showing favor to the poor one is glorifying [his Maker].—Prov. 14:31.

One aspect of the Mosaic Law that reflected God’s concern for his people’s welfare was the right to glean. The law on gleaning did not stipulate how much produce farmers were to leave for the needy. It was up to them whether the borders of unreaped grain around the edges of their fields would be wide or narrow. In this, the arrangement taught generosity. It gave farmers the opportunity to show their appreciation to the Provider of the harvest. Boaz was one who did so. He kindly made sure that Ruth, a widow who gleaned in his fields, would collect a good quantity of grain. Jehovah amply rewarded Boaz for his generosity. (Ruth 2:15, 16; 4:21, 22; Prov. 19:17) The principle behind the law on gleaning has not changed. Jehovah expects his servants to be generous, especially toward the needy. The more generous we are, the greater our blessings will be.—Luke 6:38. w 6/15/06 11-13

YESTERDAY'S:
Jehovah is good to all.—Ps. 145:9.

In addition to working “what is good toward all” by preaching, shepherds have the responsibility to work what is good “especially toward those related to [them] in the faith.” (Gal. 6:10) One way they do this is by making encouraging shepherding visits. At times, shepherds may suggest ways in which an individual can improve in his service to Jehovah. In doing so, wise shepherds imitate the apostle Paul. Consider the way he appealed to the brothers in Thessalonica: “We have confidence in the Lord regarding you, that you are doing and will go on doing the things we order.” (2 Thess. 3:4) Such expressions of confidence appeal to the good inclinations of the sheep and make it easier for them to “be obedient to those who are taking the lead.” (Heb. 13:17) When you receive an encouraging shepherding visit, why not express appreciation for it and do your best to apply the suggestions offered? w 5/1/06 15, 16

He will certainly bring forth the headstone. There will be shoutings to it: “How charming! How charming!”—Zech. 4:7.

Zechariah’s prophecy is pointing to the time when true worship of the Sovereign Lord will be brought to its perfected state in the earthly courtyards of his spiritual temple. That temple is Jehovah’s arrangement for approaching him in worship on the basis of the propitiatory sacrifice of Christ Jesus. Granted, the great spiritual temple has existed since the first century C.E. Yet, true worship in its earthly courtyard will yet be perfected. Millions of worshippers now serve in the earthly courtyard of the spiritual temple. These and multitudes of resurrected ones will be brought to perfection during the Thousand Year Reign of Jesus Christ. At the end of the thousand years, only true worshippers of God will be left on the cleansed earth. Should this not encourage us to move ahead in our ministry, not getting sidetracked by everyday concerns? w 4/15/06 5-7a

We will certainly be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holy place of your temple.—Ps. 65:4.

David was not permitted to supervise the construction of Jehovah’s house. Instead, that privilege was reserved for his son Solomon. David did not murmur because someone else was granted the privilege that he himself so earnestly desired. What was most important to him was that the temple be built. He wholeheartedly supported the project. Faithful Israelites also supported the arrangements made for true worship at the house of God. As present-day servants of Jehovah, we similarly support provisions for worship within the earthly part of Jehovah’s organization. We thereby demonstrate that we have the same frame of mind that David had. Ours is not a spirit of complaint. Instead, we focus on the goodness of God’s organization. Have you thought about the many good things for which we can truly be grateful? w 7/15/06 2, 3a

"As for me and my household, we shall serve Jehovah."
Joshua 24:15

In 1473 B.C.E., Joshua led the Israelites into the Promised Land. Joshua entreated the whole nation: “Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve, whether the gods that your forefathers who were on the other side of the River served or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are dwelling.” Then, referring to his family, he said the words in today’s text. Earlier, Jehovah had urged Joshua to be courageous and strong, instructing him not to deviate from obedience to God’s Law. Rather, by reading the book of the Law in an undertone day and night, Joshua would be able to make his way successful. (Josh. 1:7, 8) And so it proved to be. Joshua’s choice led to blessings. “Not a promise failed out of all the good promise that Jehovah had made to the house of Israel,” Joshua declared. “It all came true.”—Josh. 21:45. w 6/1/06 5, 6a

Tonight's Theocratic Ministry School was awesome!!! We reviewed over the notes and the talk from the circuit assembly held a couple months ago.
Why Give God Glory? Psalm 19 shows that creation gives God glory. Revelation 4:11 mentions how Jehovah created us and His will is the reason why we exist. We also mention pioneers and how they are a great asset in the congregation. Pioneers have a zeal and motivation that permeates throughout the congregation. Also, Pioneers make other pioneers!!! All we hear from pioneers are their fine examples and joy we see. What an opportunity Jehovah gives us, especially crucial now, before the time of the end when Jehovah's great day will come.

other notes include how our conduct reflects the fruits we produce. It reflects ourselves and has an impact on our brothers and our relationship with Jehovah. (affects our brothers, because we may possibly stumble them).

We can render sacred service to Jehovah through praising him with songs, comments, preaching work.

I thought this was interesting for me. Compare Jehovah and Satan and think about who you want to imitate/follow. One of the qualities Jerry Trotter mentioned was how Jehovah is merciful and slow to anger, whereas Satan holds grudges with great anger. Along with this, we need to have Jehovah's spirit upon us. With his spirit, we can have consistency. I found it interesting, because not many religions acknowledge the spirit, and some religions (the trinity) believe that the holy spirit = Jesus = Jehovah. HAH~!

Moving forward, I took note of Sister Reece and Sister Richardson's talk. IT WAS SO COOL. It shows why our lives our involved in our worship and why we must dedicate ourselves to Jehovah... through BAPTISM! (dun dun dun) Here are my notes:
"Why are our lives involved? Why baptism? Like Noah, we need a spiritual paradise. What does that mean? Looking at the example of Noah, in order to make it to his destination, he must be inside the arc and while in that arc, he had to endure all the nasty things outside, including the corrupt world and its people. In order for US to get into our "spiritual paradise", we must survive and go into our arc, our spiritual arc, in order to make it to the end, our destination, which is everlasting paradise on Earth. mwahaha~ This is why we must owe our lives to Jehovah and make dedication to him with our baptism. :)
ta da~

While taking these notes, I realized Brother Marsh was sitting behind me, and out of nowhere, I recall his example he gave in his talk last Sunday on how children really do acknowledge their parent's examples and conduct. Brother Marsh encountered a little young boy at an assembly and spoke to him.
Boy: I'm going to be like David today!!!
Brother Marsh: Who's David?!! And why do you want to be like him today?
Boy: I'm going to be like David, and you see that man over there in that corner? (*points to an elderly man in a corner*) Well, that's my grandpa, and he's Goliath!
Brother Marsh: (*realizing that the Boy is talking about the example in the Bible of David and Goliath*) Ahhhhh, so why do you want to be David?
Boy: Because I want to teach that man (his grandpa) a lesson. He's a really bad man. He doesn't love Jehovah.

I thought this was such a cute example. Haha! xD
There was another example about a young girl and her mom. She says that her mom will ask her how her day was. And everyday, the girl will respond with the same answer, "it was fine." One day, that young girl went up to a brother and said that her mother doesn't love her. Now, even though the mother is concerned how her young daughter is doing everyday, why does the girl still say her mother does not love her? It is because she knows that as a person learning the truth, how can EVERY single day be FINE, when the world is corrupt, even at schools, and there is so much pressure?

So these points I found were neat and jotted some of them down in my notes. I hope it serves a lesson for you, too!!! Also, Debbie Trotter got me a Bible with my name and baptism date engraved on it. I LOVE IT. !!!! So lately, it motivates me more to read Jehovah's Word. =)
"God is greater than our hearts and knows all things."
1 John 3:20

Admittedly, it can be difficult to quell feelings of discouragement if these are deeply ingrained. Yet, Jehovah’s spirit can help you progressively to overturn “strongly entrenched things . . . raised up against the knowledge of God.” (2 Cor. 10:4, 5) What is meant by the phrase “God is greater than our hearts”? At times, our heart may condemn us, especially when we become painfully aware of our imperfections and shortcomings. Or it may be that because of our background, we have an inordinate tendency to think negatively of ourselves, as if nothing we do could be acceptable to Jehovah. The apostle John’s words assure us that Jehovah is greater than that! He sees past our mistakes and perceives our real potential. He also knows our motives and intentions. (Ps. 103:14) Yes, Jehovah knows us better than we know ourselves! w 8/1/05 18, 19a

"Your works are wonderful, as my soul is very well aware."
Psalm 139:14

The religions of Christendom generally claim to believe the Bible. However, they fail to agree on what it teaches. How different their condition is from that of Jehovah’s servants! Regardless of our national, cultural, or ethnic background, we worship the God we know by name. He is not some mysterious triune god. (Deut. 6:4; Ps. 83:18; Mark 12:29) We are also aware that the paramount issue of God’s universal sovereignty is due for settlement and that by maintaining our integrity to him, each one of us is personally involved in that issue. We know the truth about the dead and are free of the morbid fear of a God who is said to torment humans in hellfire or consign them to purgatory. (Eccl. 9:5, 10) Moreover, what a joy it is to know that we are not an accidental product of blind evolution! Rather, we are God’s creation, made in his own image.—Gen. 1:26; Mal. 2:10. w 5/15/06 4, 5a

"All of you gird yourselves with lowliness of mind toward one another, because God opposes the haughty ones, but he gives undeserved kindness to the humble ones."
1 Peter 5:5.

Having a regular share in the Christian ministry can help us to be humble. Lowliness of mind can make us effective when we approach strangers we find from house to house and in other places. This is especially true when householders initially respond to the Kingdom message with apathy or rudeness. Our beliefs are often challenged, and humility can help the Christian to keep answering questions “with a mild temper and deep respect.” (1 Pet. 3:15) Humble servants of God have moved to new territories and have helped people with different cultures and standards of living. Such ministers may humbly have to cope with the difficult task of learning a new language in order to be of better service to those with whom they want to share the good news. How commendable!—Matt. 28:19, 20. w 10/15/05 15, 16a

Today's talk by Brother Marsh was awesome. He mentioned how parents must always keep Jehovah first and how they should set that priority on their children, also. I'll keep in mind the examples of the Father who left his job to pioneer with his children, the letter written by a classmate who apologized for teasing one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and of course, the ice cube example.

The apology letter was written by a non-believer to her classmate,Mary, a Jehovah's Witness. She mentions how her high school life was horrible. She was popular amongst most girls and had many boyfriends. Also, she was a cheerleader and became married to a football player. She had abortions by the age of 18 and became pregnant again. She was not sure who the baby's father was and married the most popular football player, because his father was her mother's close friend. The marriage was not out of love, and the person she married was only willing to marry, because his father would reward him with a car. The car got wrecked and so did their marriage. The child died from eating bleach and her father became an alcoholic, because her mother ran away with her ex-husband's father. She could not think of anyone who to send this letter to except to Mary. She apologized for criticizing Mary, saying that she was a lesbian, because she did not accept any boyfriends. She hated Mary, because Mary had something she didn't have: peace of mind and self-respect. This letter really made many of the brothers and sisters fall into tears and I believe Brother Marsh almost did, too.

Anyhow, I thought this talk was just absolutely amazing. A main point to remember was you should always look for your children's interest. If a child says he/she does not want to go to school, you can mention how you had to struggle through when you were at their age. But ALSO, ask what their reason is for not wanting to go. Why? Maybe there's a bully in school or there's a problem with a teacher, perhaps? This talk was just absolutely amazing. If only I could have recorded it!!

Also, last week, the brother said... meetings are essential, because if you miss just ONE meeting, Satan will know and he will try to use that against you.

Today was just amazing. This weekend, about 10 brothers and sisters from San Jose/Garden Grove, California are coming to encourage the Las Vegas group. I CAN'T WAIT!!! :D

"Rejoice with people who rejoice; weep with people who weep."
Romans 12:15

Loving Christian shepherds endeavor to show personal interest in each sheep in the congregation. (Phil. 2:4) One way shepherds become better acquainted with individual sheep is by working side by side with them in the public preaching work. Jesus often had his followers with him in the preaching work and used such occasions to give encouragement. (Luke 8:1) Love moved Jesus to share in the joys and sorrows of his followers. For example, when 70 of his disciples returned with joy from their preaching, Jesus became “overjoyed.” (Luke 10:17-21) However, when he saw the effect Lazarus’ death had on Mary and her family members and friends, “Jesus gave way to tears.” (John 11:33-35) Likewise, caring shepherds today are not emotionally distant from the sheep. If you experience either joy or sadness in your life, feel free to share your feelings with Christian shepherds.—Rom. 1:11, 12. w 5/1/06 6, 7

What a sad situation! The Israelites were Jehovah’s chosen people, and he wanted them to draw close to him. (Ex. 19:4-6) Yet, they were reluctant to gaze intently on the reflection of God’s glory. Instead of turning their hearts and minds toward Jehovah in loving devotion, they in a sense turned away from him. In this, we find a parallel in the first century C.E. By the time of Paul’s conversion to Christianity, the Law covenant had been replaced by the new covenant, mediated by Jesus Christ, the Greater Moses. In both word and deed, Jesus perfectly reflected the glory of Jehovah. (Heb. 1:3) What a magnificent opportunity the Jews had! They could listen to the sayings of everlasting life from the Son of God himself! Sadly, most of those to whom Jesus preached did not listen.—Isa. 6:9, 10; Matt. 13:15. w 8/15/05 4, 5a

"Look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things."
Matthew 28:20

How is Jesus Christ with his followers in this time of the conclusion of the system of things? “The helper, the holy spirit, which the Father will send in my name,” said Jesus, “that one will teach you all things and bring back to your minds all the things I told you.” (John 14:26) The holy spirit, sent in Jesus’ name, guides and strengthens us today. It enlightens us spiritually and helps us to understand “even the deep things of God.” (1 Cor. 2:10) Moreover, the godly qualities of “love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control” are “the fruitage of the spirit.” (Gal. 5:22, 23) With the help of the holy spirit, we can cultivate these qualities. And holy spirit also helps us to endure temptations and trials.—1 Cor. 10:13; 2 Cor. 4:7; Phil. 4:13. w 9/15/05 5-7a

"We were foreordained according to the purpose of him who operates all things according to the way his will counsels."
Ephesians 1:11

The apostle John had the privilege of learning in a vision the number of those who would become Christ’s joint heirs—144,000. (Rev. 7:4-8; 14:1, 3) United with Christ as King, they serve “for the praise of [God’s] glory.” (Eph. 1:12-14) The foreordination of the 144,000 does not mean that certain individuals were predestined to serve God faithfully in this way. Indeed, the admonition in the Christian Greek Scriptures was written primarily to guide and strengthen anointed ones to maintain integrity and keep themselves worthy of their heavenly calling. (Phil. 2:12; 2 Thess. 1:5, 11; 2 Pet. 1:10, 11) Jehovah knows in advance that 144,000 individuals will qualify to serve his purpose. Who they prove to be depends on how those invited individually choose to live their life, a decision that each one of them must make personally.—Matt. 24:13. w 6/1/06 11, 12

"You must choose life in order that you may keep alive, you and your offspring."
Deuteronomy 30:19

The Israelites individually had to choose to love Jehovah, to listen to his voice, and to stick to him. Since the Israelites had free will, they would have to bear the consequences of their choice. (Deut. 30:16-18) The period of the Judges provides a good illustration of the consequences of faithfulness and of unfaithfulness. Just before that period began, the Israelites followed the good example of Joshua and were blessed. However, some time after Joshua’s death, “another generation began to rise after them that did not know Jehovah or the work that he had done for Israel. And the sons of Israel fell to doing what was bad in the eyes of Jehovah.” (Judg. 2:7, 10, 11) Apparently, the upcoming, inexperienced generation did not prize their heritage as members of a dedicated people.—Ps. 78:3-7, 10, 11. w 7/1/06 6, 7

"In case my own father and my own mother did leave me, even Jehovah himself would take me up."
Psalm 27:10

There is one particular aspect of the last days that we cannot overlook. The Bible foretold that many would have “no natural affection.” (2 Tim. 3:3) Family affection is sorely lacking in many households. Those who have been exposed to an unwholesome home environment may in later years experience bouts of anxiety and despair. What if this is true of you? The psalmist David sang the words of today’s text. How comforting to know that Jehovah’s love exceeds that of any human parent! As painful as rejection, mistreatment, or abandonment by a parent may be, it has no bearing on how much Jehovah cares for you. (Rom. 8:38, 39) Remember that God draws those whom he loves. (John 3:16; 6:44) Regardless of how you have been treated by humans, you are loved by your heavenly Father! w 7/15/06 14, 15b

"What is Jehovah asking back from you but to exercise justice and to love kindness and to be modest in walking with your God?"
Micah 6:8

Pursuing such a course makes us different from most of the people around us. Yet, it is the only proper choice for a Christian. Why? First, Jehovah is our Creator. (Rev. 4:11) As a result, only he has the right to tell us how to walk. In addition, for those who walk with him, Jehovah has made provision for the forgiveness of sin, and he offers the sure hope of everlasting life. Our all-loving heavenly Father also provides wise counsel that helps those who walk with him to make a success of life now, despite their being imperfect and living in a world that is lying in Satan’s power. (John 3:16; 2 Tim. 3:15, 16; 1 John 1:8; 2:25; 5:19) Most important, when we walk with God, we show where we stand on the great issue of sovereignty.—Gen. 3:1-6. w 9/1/05 4-7

"[God] kept Noah, a preacher of righteousness, safe with seven others when he brought a deluge upon a world of ungodly people."
2 Peter 2:5

Noah’s contemporaries failed to appreciate that Noah had divine backing and was acting at God’s direction. So they did not take his preaching seriously and act on his warning message. What about today? Although many are impressed by the work and conduct of Jehovah’s Witnesses, most do not take the good news and the Bible’s warnings seriously. In these last days of the present system of things, Jehovah’s people are making known God’s righteous standards and are declaring good news about the possibility of surviving into the new world. (2 Pet. 3:9-13) Just as Noah and his God-fearing family were preserved in the ark, survival of individuals today depends on their faith and their loyal association with the earthly part of Jehovah’s universal organization. w 5/15/06 6, 8

"Have love for the whole association of brothers."
1 Peter 2:17

God’s organization plays a vital role in our spiritual growth. It provides a wealth of Bible publications that help us to grow in accurate knowledge and to cultivate a close relationship with God. Like a mother who makes sure that her child is well-fed and cared for, “the faithful and discreet slave” provides an abundance of timely spiritual food for our spiritual advancement. (Matt. 24:45-47; 1 Thess. 2:7, 8) At weekly meetings, Jehovah’s people receive the needed training and encouragement to be faithful Witnesses of Jehovah. (Heb. 10:24, 25) Both at our meetings and through our personal study of Bible publications, we can see Jehovah’s spirit at work, directing his organization. By means of these regular provisions, God alerts us to dangers, trains us to be effective ministers, and helps us to keep spiritually awake.—Ps. 19:7, 8, 11; 1 Thess. 5:6, 11; 1 Tim. 4:13. w 4/1/06 14, 15

I remembered the time I had to ask Debbie was was the "faithful and discreet slave". They are the anointed 144,000 and the governing body is a small group of men that are also part of the faithful and discreet slave, but they serve as spokesman for the faithful and discreet slave. When questions and problems arise, the faithful and discreet slave will turn to the governing body. Pretty cool, huh? And these are brothers and sisters from all over the world. SO COOL!!! I'm still waiting to go to New York and check out Bethel, grrrrr. I want to go so bad. haha xD

"Prove yourself faithful even to death, and I will give you the crown of life."
Revelation 2:10

Very strengthening to anointed Christians are these words of Jesus Christ. Anointed ones and their companions with an earthly hope are not afraid of the Devil. This lack of fear does not stem from inherent courage. It exists because they have reverential fear of God and ‘take refuge in the shadow of his wings.’ (Psalm 34:9; 36:7) Fearless early disciples of Jesus Christ proved faithful to death despite the things they suffered. They did not succumb to fear of what Satan the Devil could do, for they knew that Jehovah would never abandon those who proved loyal to Him. Similarly, in the face of intense present-day persecution, anointed Christians and their dedicated associates are determined not to break their integrity to God. Although Satan still possesses “the means to cause death,” true Christians can take comfort in Jesus’ words in today’s text and maintain their integrity to God.—Hebrews 2:14. w 1/15/06 3, 4a

"From this day I shall bestow blessing."
Haggai 2:19

In order to have Jehovah’s backing and blessing, we must keep the work at the spiritual temple in first place in our lives. Unlike the Jews who said, “The time has not come,” we must remember that we are living in “the last days.” (Hag. 1:2; 2 Tim. 3:1) Jesus foretold that his loyal followers would preach the good news of the Kingdom and make disciples. We must be careful not to neglect our privilege of service. The preaching and teaching work that was temporarily halted by the world’s opposition was resumed in 1919, but it has not been completed. You can be sure, though, that it certainly will be! To the extent that we continue to work in earnest, we will be blessed—as a people and as individuals. Once the Jews returned in whole-souled worship and resumed in earnest their work on the foundation of the temple, they enjoyed full restoration of Jehovah’s favor. w 4/15/06 8, 9a

"In grassy pastures he makes me lie down."
Psalm 23:2

A flock lying down peacefully in the midst of abundance—David here paints a scene of contentment, refreshment, and security. The Hebrew word rendered “pastures” can mean “pleasant place.” Likely, on their own, the sheep would not find a refreshing spot to lie down in peace. Their shepherd must lead them to such a “pleasant place.” How does Jehovah lead us today? One way he does so is by example. His Word urges us to “become imitators of God.” (Eph. 5:1) The context of those words mentions compassion, forgiveness, and love. (Eph. 4:32; 5:2) Certainly, Jehovah sets the finest example in displaying such warm qualities. If we follow his example, he will lead us, as it were, to a pleasant ‘resting-place.’ In the midst of this violent world, we will “dwell in security,” experiencing the peace that comes from knowing that we have God’s approval.—Ps. 4:8; 29:11. w 11/1/05 9, 10

"Do not become righteous overmuch, nor show yourself excessively wise."
Ecclesiastes 7:16

A few become “righteous overmuch” and resent changes or refinements in our understanding of the Scriptures. Pride may play a role, and some fall into the trap of independent thinking. Whatever the reason, such an attitude is hazardous, since it can draw us back into the world and its ways. What if we are tempted to murmur because of having doubts about certain teachings that Jehovah’s people hold in common? Then let us not be impatient. The ‘faithful slave’ may eventually publish something that answers our questions and clears up our doubts. (Matt. 24:45) Prayer, personal study, and association with spiritually-minded fellow believers can also help to remove doubts and can deepen our appreciation for the faith-strengthening Bible truths we have learned through Jehovah’s channel of communication. w 7/15/06 14, 16a

going to california today!!!! So I'll post the rest of the daily text for this weekend today, since I'm gone for the whole weekend!

"To do your will, O my God, I have delighted."
Psalms 40:8

Jehovah expects those who serve him to show willing submission to his will. Prophetically, the psalmist sang: “Your people will offer themselves willingly on the day of your military force. In the splendors of holiness, from the womb of the dawn, you have your company of young men just like dewdrops.” (Ps. 110:3) Jehovah’s entire organization, both the heavenly and the earthly parts, functions on the basis of loving submission to God’s will. So you young ones should understand that neither your parents nor the Christian elders in the congregation are going to force you to get baptized. The desire to serve Jehovah must come from you. Joshua of old told the Israelites: “Serve [Jehovah] in faultlessness and in truth . . . Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve.” (Josh. 24:14-22) Similarly, it must be of your own accord that you choose to dedicate yourselves to Jehovah. w 7/1/06 9-11a

"He delivered us from the authority of the darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of his love."
Colossians 1:13

At Pentecost 33 C.E., God “made [Christ] head over all things to the congregation.” (Eph. 1:20-22; Acts 2:32-36) Christ thus began to rule but in a limited sense. His initial subjects were spirit-anointed Christians, who made up spiritual Israel, “the Israel of God.” (Gal. 6:16) Almost 30 years later, the apostle Paul confirmed that Christ had not yet taken full Kingdom power, but he was “at the right hand of God, from then on awaiting until his enemies should be placed as a stool for his feet.” (Heb. 10:12, 13) Then, near the end of the first century C.E., the aged apostle John foresaw in a vision the Universal Sovereign, Jehovah, installing Christ Jesus as King of the newborn heavenly Kingdom. (Rev. 11:15; 12:1-5) Today, we have overwhelming evidence confirming that Christ began to rule as Messianic King in heaven in 1914. w 5/1/06 1, 2b

"Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need."
Matthew 5:3

Mankind was created with a number of needs. Food, drink, and shelter, for example, are essential if a person is to remain in good physical health. Yet, man also has to care for his “spiritual need.” He will not be truly happy unless he does that. Jehovah considered the satisfying of this innate need to be so fundamental that he commanded his people to interrupt their normal activities for one whole day each week in order to give attention to spiritual matters. That was the Sabbath arrangement. The first occurrence of the word “sabbath” in the Bible is in connection with the provision of manna in the wilderness. The Israelites were told that they should collect this miraculous bread for six days. On the sixth day, they were to collect “the bread of two days,” for on the seventh, none would be provided. The seventh day would be “a holy sabbath to Jehovah.”—Ex. 16:13-30. w 6/15/06 6, 7

"Happy is the man that is feeling dread constantly, but he that is hardening his heart will fall into calamity."
Proverbs 28:14

As each of the Ten Plagues befell Egypt, Pharaoh hardened his heart rather than displayed godly fear. Jehovah did not force Pharaoh into a course of disobedience but allowed that proud ruler to choose. Paul explained regarding Jehovah’s view of Pharaoh: “For this very cause I have let you remain, that in connection with you I may show my power, and that my name may be declared in all the earth.” (Romans 9:17) Centuries later, the prophet Isaiah declared: “O Jehovah, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are our Potter; and all of us are the work of your hand.” (Isaiah 64:8) As we allow Jehovah to mold us through our personal study and application of his Word, we become more meek and malleable, making it easier for us to stick loyally to Jehovah.—Ephesians 4:23, 24; Colossians 3:8-10. w 6/1/06 13, 14a

"You do not know you are miserable and pitiable and poor and blind and naked."
Revelation 3:17.

It was not their wealth that brought the Laodiceans to such a pitiable spiritual situation. It was the fact that they trusted in wealth rather than in Jehovah. As a result, they were spiritually lukewarm, near to being ‘vomited out of’ Jesus’ mouth. (Revelation 3:14-16) On the other hand, Paul commended the Hebrew Christians, saying: “You both expressed sympathy for those in prison and joyfully took the plundering of your belongings, knowing you yourselves have a better and an abiding possession.” (Hebrews 10:34) Those Christians retained their joy because they kept hold of their most valuable possession, their “better and . . . abiding possession.” Like the merchant of Jesus’ parable who sacrificed everything for one valuable pearl, they were determined not to loosen their grip on the Kingdom hope, whatever the cost.—Matthew 13:45, 46. w 1/1/06 13, 14

"Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven."
Matthew 6:20

Occasional recreation and entertainment that is wholesome and refreshing can make life more enjoyable. Jehovah does not deny us this pleasure, but realistically we know that such activities do not in themselves help us to store up any spiritual treasures in heaven. Jesus helped his disciples to understand that “seeking first the kingdom and [God’s] righteousness” is the important thing in life, not what we may eat or drink or wear, “things the nations are eagerly pursuing.” (Matthew 6:31-34) Yes, whether we are “eating or drinking or doing anything else,” we can do “all things for God’s glory,” thanking the Grand Provider for good things enjoyed in moderation. (1 Corinthians 10:31) In his Paradise earth just ahead, there will be endless occasions to enjoy to the full Jehovah’s generosity, along with the wholesome fellowship of all who meet his righteous requirements.—Psalm 145:16; Isaiah 25:6; 2 Corinthians 7:1. w 3/1/06 19, 20

"Do not become unevenly yoked with unbelievers."
2 Corinthians 6:14

Should true worshipers shun all contact with people who engage in false worship? Should we hold ourselves completely aloof from those who do not share our faith? The answer is no. The second of the two greatest commandments states: “You must love your neighbor as yourself.” (Matthew 22:39) We certainly display love for our neighbors when we share with them the good news of the Kingdom. However, as Jesus’ followers we are “no part of the world.” (John 15:19) The term “world” here refers to human society alienated from God. (Ephesians 4:17-19; 1 John 5:19) We are separate from the world in that we shun attitudes, speech, and conduct that offend Jehovah. (1 John 2:15-17) Moreover, in harmony with the principle that “bad associations spoil useful habits,” we avoid intimacy with those who do not live by Christian standards. (1 Corinthians 15:33) To be no part of the world is to remain “without spot from the world.”—James 1:27. w 3/15/06 13-15a

"I said to laughter: “Insanity!” and to rejoicing: “What is this doing?”"
Ecclesiastes 2:2

So many people build their lives around pursuing pleasure. What is the Bible’s view in this regard? Scripturally, whatever happiness pleasure offers is at best temporary. What about involvement in work? We have the most meaningful work to get involved in—the Kingdom-preaching and disciple-making work. (Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20) By sharing with others the message of salvation outlined in the Bible, we engage in a work that can result in our own salvation and in that of those who listen to us. (1 Timothy 4:16) As “God’s fellow workers,” we experience that “there is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.” (1 Corinthians 3:9; Acts 20:35) This work adds meaning to our life and provides the Creator with an answer for his taunter, Satan the Devil. (Proverbs 27:11) Indeed, godly devotion brings genuine and lasting happiness.—1 Timothy 4:8. w 5/15/06 11, 12a

"My kingdom is no part of this world."
John 18:36

Subjects of the heavenly Kingdom neither take up arms against anyone nor take sides in any human conflict. In loyalty to the “Prince of Peace,” they remain completely neutral in the partisan affairs of the world. (Isaiah 2:2-4; 9:6, 7) They eagerly anticipate his imminent demonstration of supernatural kingly power. (Matthew 24:30; Revelation 19:11–20:3) The remnant of loyal, spirit-anointed “sons of the kingdom” look forward to their priceless inheritance as kings with Christ in heaven. (Matthew 13:38; Luke 12:32) Christ’s loyal “other sheep” keenly await their King’s approving declaration: “Come, you who have been blessed by my Father, inherit the [earthly Paradise realm of the] kingdom prepared for you from the founding of the world.” (John 10:16; Matthew 25:34) Accordingly, may all subjects of the Kingdom be determined to continue loyally serving Christ the King. w 5/1/06 18, 19b

"Let your reasonableness become known to all men."
Philippians 4:5

Jesus took into consideration the limitations of his disciples. He did not demand of them more than they were capable of giving. (John 16:12) Without pressuring them, Jesus encouraged his followers to ‘exert themselves vigorously’ in doing God’s will. (Luke 13:24) He did this by taking the lead and by appealing to their hearts. Jesus did not abuse the authority entrusted to him by controlling people’s lives. He neither set unreachable standards nor laid down countless rules. His approach was to motivate others by reaching their hearts with the principles behind the laws given through Moses. (Matthew 5:27, 28) In imitation of Jesus Christ, the elders refrain from making arbitrary rules or insisting on their personal viewpoints. Rather, they try to reach hearts by using godly principles, such as those outlined at Micah 6:8; 1 Corinthians 10:31-33; and 1 Timothy 2:9, 10. w 9/15/05 12-14a

"The sabbath came into existence for the sake of man."
Mark 2:27

No work at all was to be done on the Sabbath. The day was sacred. (Exodus 20:8-11) The Sabbath law showed Jehovah’s concern for both the physical and the spiritual welfare of his people. It not only allowed the Israelites to rest but also gave them the opportunity to draw close to and show love for their Creator. (Deuteronomy 5:12) It was a day dedicated exclusively to spiritual interests. That included family worship, prayer, and meditation on God’s Law. The arrangement served to protect the Israelites from using all their time and energy in material pursuits. The Sabbath reminded them that their relationship with Jehovah was the most important thing in their lives. Jesus reiterated that unchanging principle when he said: “It is written, ‘Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah’s mouth.’”—Matthew 4:4. w 6/15/06 7, 8

"My own counsel will stand, and everything that is my delight I shall do."
Isaiah 46:10

King Jehoshaphat of Judah faced the combined armies of Ammon and Moab. He confidently prayed: “O Jehovah the God of our forefathers, are you not God in the heavens, and are you not dominating over all the kingdoms of the nations, and are there not in your hand power and mightiness, with no one to hold his ground against you?” (2 Chronicles 20:6) Isaiah expressed similar confidence when he stated: “Jehovah of armies himself has counseled, and who can break it up? And his hand is the one stretched out, and who can turn it back?” (Isaiah 14:27) Later, when restored to his senses following a period of insanity, King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon humbly acknowledged: “There exists no one that can check [God’s] hand or that can say to him, ‘What have you been doing?’” (Dan. 4:35) Yes, we can have full confidence that Jehovah’s word always comes true. w 6/1/06 6, 7

"Thanks to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!"
Romans 7:25

Unlike corrupt individuals who are “past all moral sense,” true Christians are pained by their sinful state. (Ephesians 4:19) They may feel as did Paul, who wrote: “I really delight in the law of God according to the man I am within, but I behold in my members another law warring against the law of my mind and leading me captive to sin’s law that is in my members.” Then Paul exclaimed: “Miserable man that I am!” (Romans 7:22-24) Have you ever felt as Paul did? It is not wrong for you to be keenly aware of your imperfections, for this can impress upon you the gravity of sin and can strengthen your resolve to shun badness. But you do not need to be in a constant state of misery over your shortcomings. To his words of distress just quoted, Paul added the words of today’s text. Yes, Paul had confidence that Jesus’ shed blood could redeem him from inherited sin.—Romans 5:18. w 7/15/06 5, 6b

oh my goodness!! I feel so horrbbbbibbble!!! >_< I didn't come home til 1:30 am ish last night (or should I say, this morning), because Lucy, Kellie, Kevin, Hai, Truong, and I went swimming at the 24 hour fitness. Anyways... I'll post up yesterday's daily text. Here it is:

"If anyone wants to come after me, let him disown himself and pick up his torture stake and continually follow me."
Matthew 16:24.

Dedication is an essential step that must precede baptism. It is made in prayer, in which we express the desire to give our life to Jehovah through Christ. (Romans 14:7, 8; 2 Corinthians 5:15) Jesus outlined three things that we must do. First, we “disown” ourselves. In other words, we say no to our selfish, imperfect inclinations and yes to God’s counsel and direction. Second, we ‘pick up our torture stake.’ In Jesus’ day a torture stake was a symbol of shame and suffering. As Christians, we accept our part in suffering for the sake of the good news. (2 Timithoy 1:8) Although the world may ridicule or reproach us, like Christ we ‘despise shame,’ happy in the knowledge that we are pleasing God. (Heb. 12:2) Finally, we follow Jesus “continually.”—Psalms 73:26; 119:44; 145:2. w 4/1/06 8, 9

Anyway, back on schedule (hopefully, haha), today's Theocratic Ministry School was amazing! I love how Brother and Sister Christiansen did on their part for the school. Jerry gave an amazing talk about courtship, and Phil Fletcher gave a nice 5 minute discussion and mentioned a scripture, which I really enjoyed. I'm going to meet him on Thursday @ 7pm for the second part to my Baptism questions. OOOH, I'm so excited! =D haha...Brother Falzone mentioned how the Sahara congregation has openings up for the school, and I reeeeaallly REEEEAAALLY want to join!!! Though I don't feel that I would qualify or be good enough to participate in such a wonderful opportunity, I must pray!! Mwahaha...

OK.. I'll just list some cooooolio scriptures here, even though it's not much, it's still gooooooot! :]

Ephesians 5:8, 9

"for YOU were once darkness, but YOU are now light in connection with [the] Lord. Go on walking as children of light, for the fruitage of the light consists of every sort of goodness and righteousness and truth."
In tie with this scripture, Phil Fletcher said that there's a saying goes that you should not walk ahead of the light or behind the light, but WITH the light. Follow the light, which is "truth". I loved how Jerry said light = truth.

Matthew 7:1-5
"Stop judging that YOU may not be judged; for with what judgment YOU are judging, YOU will be judged; and with the measure that YOU are measuring out, they will measure out to YOU. Why, then, do you look at the straw in your brother's eye, but do not consider the rafter in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Allow me to extract the straw from your eye'; when look! a rafter is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First extract the rafter from your own eye, and then you will see clearly how to extract the straw from your brother's eye."
The latter part of this scripture is an example to support the first two verses. We cannot look at other's mistakes without knowing that we, too, as individual sinners that we inherited from birth, make mistakes. No one is perfect. However, this does not mean that we can acknowledge another person's mistakes and not help them or give them the correct direction (from the Bible, of course) and pray for guidance from Jah upon them. yep yep.

Ezekiel 33:11
"Say to them, '"As I am alive," is the utterance of the Sovereign Lord Jehovah, "I take delight, not in the death of the wicked one, but in that someone wicked turns back from his way and actually keeps living. Turn back, turn back from YOUR bad ways, for why is it that YOU should die, O house of Israel?"
Along with this scripture, I love how Brother Fletcher and Julia mentioned how Jehovah will always look at the good in us no matter what. Even when we are sinning against him, He will always look at the good in us. Wow, that was touching and absolutely amaaaaaayyyyyzing.. yeah, aMAYzing >_<

(2 Tim. 1:8) Although the world may ridicule or reproach us, like Christ we ‘despise shame,’ happy in the knowledge that we are pleasing God. (Heb. 12:2) Finally, we follow Jesus “continually.”—Psalm 73:26; 119:44; 145:2. w 4/1/06 8, 9

Yay, I love how this topic on baptism happened to be today. Today, after the public talk, which is the Watchtower Study, I met up with Jerry and Kevin to go over the first part of the baptism questions. Man oh man, I always end up tearing up somewhere, but this time, I felt strong and I wasn't balling like a baby, hehe. Anyhow, I have to remember that first thing on my list is seeking first the kingdom, my top priority. I feel that I really should drop school, even though I know I need some kind of degree to serve as a backup, I still need to focus on Jehovah's upcoming kingdom (I don't know if that was the right way to say it hehe). Exclusive devotion involves with serving Jehovah and loving him with our whole hearts, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). If we serve Jah with our whole hearts, we are not setting any room for anything else. I liked how Jerry mentioned that and emphasized more on the "whole hearts" part.

OOOOOH, I can't wait for baptism. I'm nervous, but it feels good and exciting. Also, I can't wait to see Barbara!! AHHHH, I hope there are others who are getting baptized also. I have to remember, this is the FIRST step. Many view baptism as the last step, but that is a no no. :)

WOOOOH~!!! ooga ooga. xD
and oh my word... Kelly's baby looks SOOOOOOO cute! AH, adorable! I hope I get to babysit that little monkey. =P haha

"The god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers."
2 Corinthians 4:4

Many sincere people do not know the truth about God and the future of mankind. Not having found answers to their deepest spiritual concerns, they live in confusion and uncertainty. Millions are enslaved to superstitions, rituals, and celebrations that offend our Creator. What is responsible for this widespread spiritual darkness? Ironically, it is religion—specifically the religious organizations and leaders who have promoted ideas contrary to God’s thoughts. (Mark 7:7, 8) As a result, many people have been deceived into believing that they worship the true God, while in reality they offend him. False religion is directly responsible for this sad situation. There is an unseen entity behind false religion. The Bible points out that “the god of this system of things” is none other than Satan the Devil. He is the principal promoter of false worship. w 3/15/06 1-3a

"This means my “blood of the covenant."
Matt. 26:28.

Just as the blood of bulls and goats validated the Law covenant between God and the nation of Israel, Jesus’ blood made valid the new covenant that Jehovah would make with spiritual Israel, beginning at Pentecost 33 C.E. (Exodus 24:5-8; Luke 22:20; Hebrews 9:14, 15) By drinking the wine that symbolizes the “blood of the covenant,” the anointed indicate that they have been taken into the new covenant and are receiving the benefits of it. The anointed are also reminded of something else. Jesus told his faithful disciples: “The cup I am drinking you will drink, and with the baptism with which I am being baptized you will be baptized.” (Mark 10:38, 39) The apostle Paul later spoke of Christians’ being “baptized into [Christ’s] death.” (Romans 6:3) The anointed live a life of sacrifice. Their death is sacrificial in that they renounce any hope of everlasting life on earth. Watchtower February 15 2006 11,12a

"I am in your midst as the one ministering."
Luke 22:27.

Jesus’ long-suffering and kindness—coupled with his good example—touched the apostles’ hearts. Today, a spiritual shepherd may need to offer counsel repeatedly to a person regarding a certain failing. The shepherd could become exasperated with the individual. However, keeping in mind his own failings as he ‘admonishes the disorderly,’ he is able to show long-suffering and kindness toward his brother. That way he imitates Jesus and Jehovah, who show these qualities toward all Christians—including shepherds. (1 Thessalonian 5:14; James 2:13) At times, shepherds may need to offer strong counsel to one who has committed a serious sin. If the individual is unrepentant, the shepherds must remove the erring one from the congregation. (1 Corinthians 5:11-13) Even so, a kind manner on the part of the shepherds may make it easier for a straying sheep eventually to return to the fold.—Luke 15:11-24. Watchtower May 1 2006, 12-14

I was watching an episode from the drama I mentioned in my previous blog. Wow, I love the acting, comedy, romance, and the seriousness also. Remember how I mentioned there was a girl who broke up with a guy? That guy fell for someone really pretty, but she also had a good heart, except she is a player. After the breakup, the heartbroken girl sees her ex-boyfriend with another woman, a gorgeous one. When the heartbroken girl's brother sees him, he speaks to him, saying "wow, this woman is beautiful. We should keep in touch. It's natural to want something better, and for something sparkling to catch your eye. But not everything that sparkles is a jewel. These days, there are tons of fakes." And he stares at the new girl the ex-boyfriend was with while he was saying these words. I thought that was neat, because not many of those in relationship realize this. Also, another quote I recall was "it's easier to fall in love, than to stay in love." If only every couple had something to base off of their principles and way of behavior and habits, they would come to an agreement or to a better understand, thus creating a better relationship than others. Most couples should base their life off of God's Word, the Bible.

Anyway, I thought the drama thing was neat. I love dramas and so does most of the Vietnamese group. I don't find it a waste of time, since I do learn a lot, but then again, it can be a waste of time, as long as you don't get to the point where it like takes up most of your time. =D

"The kingdom of the world did become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will rule as king forever and ever."
Revelation 11:15.

Despite scientific and technological know-how and the sincere efforts of certain leaders, serious problems of present-day life remain unsolved (for instance, the cure for cancer still remains unknown). How gratifying to know that Jehovah has instituted an arrangement that is capable of solving all of mankind’s problems—the Messianic Kingdom of God! By means of it, the true God will make wars to cease and bring about abundant peace. (Psalm 46:9; 72:7) The anointed King, Jesus Christ, will deliver the poor one, the afflicted one, and the lowly one from oppression and from violence. (Psalm 72:12-14) Under Kingdom rule, there will be no food shortage. (Psalm 72:16) Jehovah "will wipe out every tear from [our] eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." (Revelation 21:4) The Kingdom will shortly take action to affect every affair on the earth. Daniel 2:44. Watchtower May 15 2006 paragraphs 9, 10a

I still remember how I was watching some Korean drama last night to get the test I took today off my mind. There was an ending of an episode that really caught my attention. It was a part where a girl became heartbroken after her boyfriend broke up with her. Their 5 year relationship they had believed was destined before them had disappeared. At the end of an episode, the girl makes a quote, which I thought is really touching, and it makes you think, too. This part of the drama really gave me into shedding some tears. She said, "There is no such thing as a perfect man and perfect woman in the world. There is only perfect love built together by imperfect man and imperfect woman. There is only perfect love built together by imperfect man and imperfect woman."

"O do guard my soul, for I am loyal. Save your servant—you are my God—that is trusting in you."
Psalm 86:2

Many are facing problems of social injustice or religious prejudice. Possibly there is little or nothing they can do about at this time. Such a situation can be very difficult to endure, but David’s reaction to injustice teaches us a lesson. The psalms David wrote are a poignant record not only of his heartfelt prayers for God to keep him out of Saul’s clutches but also of his loyalty to Jehovah and his concern for the glorification of God’s name. (Psalm 18:1-6, 25-27, 30-32, 48-50; 57:1-11) David remained loyal to Jehovah even though Saul continued to act in an unjust way for years. We too should remain faithful to Jehovah and to his organization regardless of injustices we suffer and regardless of what others do. We can rest assured that Jehovah is fully aware of the situation. Watchtower June 15 2006 paragraph 7a

Tuesdays are days that I work the longest hours. After work, I went to class and we found out that we would not meet our guest speaker, who was supposed to show us a presentation and speech along with advice for freshmen. Anyways, the teacher made us form groups, and I happened to be in the group with Shawana and Jonathan. Shawana told me she saw me at Pho Kim Long last night and that her parents own that restaurant! Haha, that was cool. And not too long later did I find out that Jonathan is also Vietnamese. Wow, all this time I had thought he was Filipino or Chinese, haha. I love Tuesday's Sci class. It's a little boring and tiring, but it really gets me to be relaxed and I know I don't have to focus much on anything, since we're not learning anything. If we are, then it's just basic information that most of the students already know. It's a small class, but it's fun. :)

For some reason, no matter how much I exercise, I can't feel the effect of shrinking or losing weight. I feel like all I can do is gain weight. I know I eat a lot, but still!! I shouldn't be gaining weight or getting big so fast. Why did this happen? .__. If only I stayed a shrimpy person. Then again, I do want to be taller. Sometimes I want to be 5'9''... then other times 5 feet flat. I'm so indecisive. Oh well...Hopefully, I can be the way I want to look. It's hard to get a figure, arrghh~

OH man, at work today, I got my period. That was scary. I had to rush outside the building to Alex's car and grab the "you know what." Whew, I was safe. Guys don't know what girls go through and how much of a hassle things are for them. *sigh* Tomorrow, I'm not excited at all. You know why? Another Biology test. You know what that means? A Six-Chapter test. YES, it is rape. My teacher is smart, but his explanation and speech goes all over the place and becomes scrambled in my mind. Then, they go out of my head. :)

Wow, I got a craving for mochi ice cream sooo sooo bad. I want to go to SUSHI-MON! It's SOOOO GOOOT~ T_T Anyway, the green powder is what they put on the "popping sue." It's sprinkled on top of the boba or hidden inside. It's yummy and sometimes it can taste like beans, the ones that they put in Japanese soup deserts. I know I should be studying, but I got to go to a meeting and I'm really in the mood for mochi. haha xD My mom got me addicted to mochi ice cream, and my dad got me addicted to the regular ones with peanuts or different kinds of filling. Anyhow, the dough tastes yummy. What would the world do without bakers? They make all the deserts. Oh boy, I need to stop.

"This is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments."
1 John 5:3

If we love God, it is a pleasure to do His will. We thus gain God’s approval, and we benefit ourselves. (Isaiah 48:17) Love of God moves us to imitate His qualities. When we love a person, we admire his qualities and seek to be like him. Consider the relationship between Jehovah and Jesus. They were together in heaven for perhaps billions of years. Deep, pure love existed between them. So perfectly did Jesus resemble his heavenly Father that he could say to his disciples: "He that has seen me has seen the Father." (John 14:9) As we gain knowledge and appreciation for Jehovah and his Son, we are moved to be like them. Our love for Jehovah, along with the help of his holy spirit, will enable us to "strip off the old personality with its practices, and clothe [ourselves] with the new personality."—Colossians 3:9, 10; Galatians 5:22, 23. Watchtower August 15 2005 paragraphs 14, 15b

Today was a beautiful day. Work felt longer than usual , but it was worth it, because I received a message from Vicki Tabor, whom I met about a month ago on my trip to Mount. Zion, in Utah. Right before the tough part of the hike, where you hold onto chains, I met Vicki. We were on top of Angel's Landing, and it felt like we were on top of the world! That was probably the first time I have EVER breathed in fresh air. It was so clean that my lungs felt clean. I couldn't even feel myself breathing. Anyhow, Hai took really nice photos with his phone camera.

After work, I went to class, and I think I was going to collapse and snooze. I felt a little dizzy, but it's alright, because I didn't fall asleep. I got to the book study meeting early for once, about 15 minutes earlier, and I think everyone was exhausted. Only ones I see energized and fired up with the comments were Sister Dolly and Debbie...LOL. But everyone did an awesome job commenting at least once. I spoke to Jennifer and she said Quyen made it safely to California and hopefully, he can find a Kingdom Hall SOON. :D

After the meeting, Kellie, Mommy, and I went to Pho Kim Long. No, we did not eat Pho, but we ate the Combination Fried Rice and Crispy Seafood Chow Mein. That was delicious. Not only does the place look gorgeous since the owner remodeled the place, but I was sitting by the plants, and the place felt like perfect temperature, heh. Our waiter didn't speak vietnamese well, and then we found out he's actually cantonese. He treated us the vinegar sauce and tea... for FREE. I loved his reactions and his service. He looked like Daddy and acted like him, too. Awwww, haha. He even scooped out the left over fried rice and said it was his job to treat us like princesses. He had came from California to find a job here as a dealer. Though being a waiter is a tough job, I feel it's much better than a dealer. I'll agree that a dealer has many benefits, but it's against the rules of the Bible's principles. We are not allowed to support any wrongdoing or habit, which includes gambling. Anyway, I felt the waiter was too nice so my family tipped him extra.

Also, my family is worried about Thanh. We're praying for her as much as we can, because she's been through lots of pressure from her husband. She feels she cannot leave her job due to taking care of her children and feeling that she won't be able to support them. However, she is lacking reliance upon Jehovah and endure through some things. She said she wanted to leave the truth. =[ I wonder how her children feel, especially after they just went through their baptism. Maybe this will give them an opportunity to take their stand.

YAY, I got the new daily text for 2008...w000oOo0t~!!! haha xD
This Friday, Debbie is having an all-girl's hang out night. I can't wait...MOO-Haha!~

and for those who don't know what popping sue is....

ta da~ !! You can order it with other fruits, boba, mochi, and misu galu (special powder they sprinkle on the boba or mochi, or on top of the fruits.)

"...You are on the run, each one in behalf of his own house."
Haggai 1:9

The Jews who returned from Babylon became preoccupied with their own daily needs and way of life. Consequently, Jehovah withdrew his blessing. (Haggai 1:6) Is there a lesson in this for us? Do you not agree that to continue enjoying divine blessings, we must resist seeking things for ourselves at the expense of Jehovah’s worship? That is so whether the activity or interest diverting our attention is the pursuit of wealth, get-rich-quick schemes, ambitious plans for advanced education to have a desirable career in this system, or programs for personal fulfillment. Such things may not be sins in themselves. However, do you not see that from the standpoint of everlasting life, those really are "dead works"? (Hebrews 9:14) In what sense? They are spiritually dead, vain, and fruitless. If one persists in them, such works could lead to spiritual death. Watchtower April 15, 2006 pages 27-28, paragraphs 12-14a
(this is what I call a self-sacrificing spirit...and it's definitely worth it in the end, when Jehovah will reward us beyond our imagination) d(^^d)

Today was a very tiring day for me. I tried hard to stay as attentive as I can be during the meeting. Brother Phil Fletcher's talk was aMAYzing! xD He mentioned how Jehovah personally hears our prayers and that He did not assigned anyone else that job. Also, there are millions of Jehovah's Witnesses that are praising him day and night, so day and night, Jehovah hears everyone's prayers, in all sorts of languages. I thought that was neat of Brother Fletcher to mention. This Watchtower meeting was the same one as yesterday's except this meeting was in English, whereas yesterday's meeting was in Vietnamese. I really wanted to make a comment, but for some reason my mind was trying to think of something, that I assume was in the back of my head. Anyways, I liked how when Kevin conducted the Watchtower meeting yesterday, he mentioned that parents must train and educate their children, according to Bible principles and fundamentals, otherwise they will be educated and trained by the world. The world definitely shows no traits of the spirit of the fruitage. I love the scripture at 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 where it defines love and its effect. This scripture reads "Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up, does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails..." This is one of my all time favorite scriptures. <3 =)

Last night, I went swimming after the Watchtower meeting with Kevin, my sister Kellie, Heather, and Lucy. WOW... what a work out. We were at the 24 hour fitness for about an hour and a half, but it was worth it. :) From all that chlorine, I feel like I need a haircut, my hair is long and dead. Afterwards, I had an urge for HEALTHY food ;], and Kevin decided to take us out to get some "ice cream yogurt" at this Korean place called Queen, in Chinatown. Unfortunately, it was closed. :T Anyhow, since we were in Chinatown, we stopped by the upstairs of Tea Planet and got some "popping sue" with boba and mochi. HMMMM, that was delicious and HEALTHY. Mwahaha~ Anyways, Kevin said it was Keturah's favorite place and that she would always go there, but right now she's probably enjoying the beautiful landscape and beaches in Hawaii. She's there to go to school for hair. We had originally wanted to go to trade school together, but my parents pressured me into college. Anyhow, I really miss Keturah and hope she's having a good time. :D
Lately, it seems that everyone in the Vietnamese group is leaving. T_T Keturah had already left to Hawaii without me, probably enjoying pineapples and musubi rolls (oh my word, they are the goodies)

Today, Quyen had left for California. I'm not quite sure where he moved to, but I think it was around the Garden Grove city. He's going there to learn in a welding program. I wonder how Jennifer's doing. Ahhh, those love birds. By the time Quyen comes back, Jennifer will have long hair, and hopefully, they stay together. Lucy is deciding for the summer on whether she should move to Houston, Texas or not. AHH...!! Why is everyone leaving me all of a sudden?! I think I need some sushi to get this off my mind. .__.
cliiiiiiiiiiiiiick

For some reason, I really missed Patty and Dean. Last summer, they came to visit my family during the hot summer time, with their firstborn baby. I felt so bad, because I thought they deserved more out of their trip coming to see my family. Not only is it so hot compared to the weather in Minnesota, but Patty came when she was PREGNANT! I really want them to come see me get baptized in San Jose, but at the same time, I know they are busy and are struggling a bit. Anyhow, I really miss them and want to give them more to show my appreciation. :]

"You are my witnesses," is the utterance of Jehovah, "even my servant whom I have chosen, in order that you may know and have faith in me, and that you may understand that I am the same One. Before me there was no God formed, and after me there continued to be none. I-I am Jehovah, and besides me there is no savior."
Isaiah 43:10-11
This verse answers the questions to why we are called Jehovah's Witnesses, and it also shows that the true God alone is Jehovah, which is his personal name.

Today, the Vietnamese group decided to meet over at my house and write letters to the "not at home" residents, that we never find when we are out in service. Lucy, Jamie and her mom, Kevin, Jerry, and Shelly and her mother came. That was awesome.

In the previous Ministry School, I found it interesting that people think that "there is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving" is a proverb, but it is actually the words of Jesus in the book of Acts 20:39. Also, during that meeting time, I found an interesting verse. It was pretty random, but It really made me think. It's found at Matthew 12:25-26 "Knowing their thoughts, he said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself comes to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. In the same way, if Satan expels Satan, he has become divided against himself; how, then, will his kingdom stand?"

Lately, I've been piled up with homework and studying for school, which I really want to quit. Even though I should have some kind of degree that would back me up in a case where I need to find a job, but right now, I have a decent job at State Farm. My parents keep pressuring me, telling me how much education is valued in Vietnam, yet, isn't the end coming near? A brother from the Vietnamese group encouraged me and said that I need to keep in mind that Jehovah's day is so close, that I should want to have the desire to pioneer even more so. Yep, that's right. My personal goal that I had originally wanted (and still do) was to find a job after high school and get straight into auxiliary pioneering so I can practice to become a regular pioneer. I honestly don't want to disappoint my parents, but I really feel the urge to quit school. I believe that Jehovah would deserve so much more out of me, and I think I can be more self-sacrificing. The reward at the very end of this system of things will be beyond anyone's imagination. Also, last week's watchtower spoke of how Jah will erase all the memories of our struggle for endurance and this system that is living under Satan's rule. Since all these things are promised and made possible only by Jehovah, God, why should I work hard to survive in this world? Living in a developing country, it is surely possible to survive. I can find a job anywhere. Oh yeah, I'm getting baptized in the first Saturday of November in San Jose, CA. Debbie and Jerry Trotter will be there, of course. A special someone that I miss so much from Minnesota is coming to see me get baptized, too. :0) My dearest, sweet, previous Bible instructor, Barbara, is coming! It'll be a cool surprise (even though it's not a surprise no more.. haha :P). She recently came back from Germany after some type of surgery, and now she has metal in her neck. I told her what Kevin always says, for encouragement, that when you feel that death is near, don't be afraid. It'll be a shortcut to everlasting life.

Oh yeah, I found a new activity that became my new best friend. :) My fear of swimming was drowning in the deep water, but now that I can swim in the lanes, it feels so stress free and sometimes relaxing, but man, I tell you, it's a work out.

Anyway, I can't wait for tomorrow. I'm going on hike to Mount. Charleston, but that is, if Debbie will go, too, because we have a Bible study tomorrow. >_<
